Dr Simon Marsland is the hub leader of the Climate Systems Hub. Based at CSIRO Simon has over 25 years’ experience in developing global ocean and coupled models of the Earth’s climate system, including as a team leader for the Australian submissions of the ACCESS model to the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) Coupled Model Intercomparison Project phases 5 and 6. He has over 20 years cumulative experience serving expert panels of the WCRP, including membership of the Working Group on Coupled Modelling, and Co-chair of the Ocean Model Development Panel.
Simon was a Review Editor for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) 6th Assessment Report Working Group I (Physical Science Basis) Chapter 9: “Ocean, cryosphere and sea level change”, and is a Partner Investigator in the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for Climate Extremes (CLEX), and the forthcoming Centre of Excellence for 21st Century Weather.
