Tanya Wilkins

Position: Senior Communication Advisor
Email:

As a promoter of genuine communication and engagement, Tanya is an advocate for the experts in these days of ‘google-fuelled online warriors’. Her sustainability communication experience includes the South Australian Government Climate Change Unit, the UK Climate Impacts Programme at the University of Oxford, End Food Waste Australia, and former Industry Growth Centre Food Innovation Australia Ltd (FIAL). Before coming to CSIRO, she has worked directly with industry leaders to understand their motivations regarding net-zero and sustainability, including at the chamber of commerce and in consulting. One of her more innovative communication projects has been a climate change murder/mystery game.

Tanya’s master’s thesis explored the journey that climate change communication has taken to increase public understanding. And her current PhD at ANU’s Centre for the Public Awareness of Science is exploring what scientists think about using stories for non-expert audiences. Aside from her academic and professional interests, Tanya is Mum to a teen daughter, hangs onto her dream of being published in The New Yorker one day, is an avid recycler, and an e-bike enthusiast.
