Building for the future workshop—a co-designed approach to considering future weather and extremes in assessing building energy efficiency.
This recorded workshop introduces the Building for the Future project—a research plan that brings together leading climate scientists and industry practitioners to develop a methodology for integrating future climate projections into building energy efficiency modelling in Australia.
The session outlines the project’s key aims, including reviewing current requirements for weather files, developing future climate methodologies, and creating prototype weather files (including heatwave scenarios) for key Australian climate zones. The workshop also shares early insights and invites collaboration as the team works towards tools and outputs to support climate-resilient building design across Australia.
