Co-authored: designing buildings for future climate – Discussions led by the Climate Systems Hub Knowledge Broker Ramona Dalla Pozza with engineers, hydrologists, and building designers, have explored how climate information underpins engineering standards and examined whether some key assumptions used in infrastructure design remain fit for purpose in a changing climate. Quantifying connection and influence: Knowledge Broker Social Network Analysis – First Person Consulting was engaged to conduct a Social Network Analysis (SNA) of the Knowledge Broker network. The focus of this year’s early career professionals event is adaptation in action, with a guided exploration of key sites across Newcastle led by Sally Bamber from the City of Newcastle. You’ll hear directly about the challenges the city is facing, the innovative responses emerging from local communities, and the strategies shaping Newcastle’s adaptation planning. Don’t miss our next webinar on 22 September – Extreme rainfall can have greater impacts when it is part of a compound event. When multiple heavy rainfall events occur in quick succession, river levels are higher; when extreme rainfall follows drought, it can be accompanied by debris flows, landslides and water quality impacts. 2024 National First Peoples Gathering on Climate Change – The 2024 National First Peoples Gathering on Climate Change (the Gathering) brought together over 130 First Nations, Elders, youth, researchers, policymakers, and community leaders from across Australia and internationally. The Gathering was held on Tubba-Gah Country from 14 to 18 October 2024.
The 2024 Gathering built upon previous Gatherings on Yorta Yorta Country (2018) and Gimuy Walubara Yidinji and Yirrigandji Country (2021), and for the first time, included global Indigenous voices from Aotearoa (New Zealand), Fiji, the US, and Canad👉 Read the Gathering report >
