Climate adaptation is increasingly important in conservation. Conservation activities that do not explicitly consider and integrate climate change information and best practice adaptation have an increased risk of short- or long-term failure.
Sharing intervention approaches to climate change is important to speed up progress in this challenging space. We have developed “An Adaptation Catalogue for Conservation (AdaptLog)” – an online, searchable repository of conservation interventions for climate adaptation for species and ecological communities.
It has been designed to help users access and understand information on a wide range of adaptation options. AdaptLog includes over 400 conservation interventions, including many instances of novel and transformative approaches to conservation under rapid climate change. By collating these interventions, we hope to facilitate learning between practitioners, and seeding productive collaborations. Ultimately, AdaptLog can provide governments, conservation managers and practitioners with options for on-ground action in the face of climate change.
During the webinar, we had the privilege of hosting some of our key collaborators who played a vital role in shaping this resource. They shared insights into their ongoing adaptation work, explored what’s needed to advance climate adaptation in Australia, and highlighted the role AdaptLog plays in these efforts. Their perspectives offered valuable guidance and inspiration for tackling the challenges ahead.
